The aim of the research was to study the validity
and reliability of the Computer Game Addiction Scale for the preschool
children. The sample of the study consisted of 150 children (76 girls, 74 boys)
attending the 5-6 age group of public kindergartens in Yenimahalle, Çankaya and
Keçiören in Ankara. Computer Game Addiction Scale developed by Horzum, Ayas and
Çakır-Balta (2008) was prepared in accordance with expert opinions and
preliminary applications and made ready for validity-reliability study. The findings
revealed that the scale had a two-factor structure, which explained %82.5 of
the total variance. The internal consistency coefficient was .98 in the total
scale and .98 and .92 in the sub-dimensions. The test-retest reliability
coefficients were found to be .97. It was seen that the Confirmatory Factor
Analysis supported two factorial structure of the scale. These findings
indicated that Computer Game Addiction Scale can be used to assess the digital
game addiction of preschool children.
